Background:
Whilst refurbishing a small derelict outbuilding with, as the estate agent put it "a considerable amount of potential to create a beautiful artists studio." I came across two toads. These little warty creatures were not at all happy about being unearthed at such an ungodly hour of the winter, and in the middle of hibernation!! They were even less happy when I had to evict them from their comfy earthy beds. However I was on hand with my trusty little 5 star hotel sized box that they were welcomed to stay in until suitable lodgings were found.
Of course while their suitable accommodation was being found Dave the Toad and Tony the Toad* as they became known, reluctantly agreed to sit for a few sessions and have their portraits sculpted. However I reckon that Dave the larger of the two toads may have still been a little sore about his untimely eviction, as you can probably see from the piece "Grumpy Little Toad."
Poor Dave's bad mood also wasn't helped by Tony the Toad insisting that the best place to sit in the whole of his 5 star accommodation was actually on top of Dave, hence that name of this piece Toad-Stool.
I'm sure that you will be pleased to know that both Dave and Tony were found new homes only several feet away from their old accommodation.
* It is possible that Dave and Tony could in fact be girls, as I do not know how to sex toads. However please feel free to choose suitable girl names if you wish.
