Professor Stephen Hawking - Current Commission
I was commission to sculpt a portrait of the famous scientist Professor Stephen Hawking for his Dept at Cambridge University. Unfortunately I can not share much information with you as the content of the project is confidential. I promise to let you know more at a later date..
Prunella - Current commission
This portrait bust is a commission for a private client. The final piece will be made into bronze with a stone base. This is the completed clay sculpture, and is now awaiting the moulding process, before it is made into the final bronze.
Background
Miss (princess) Prunella is an American Cocker Spaniel, she was a cruffs winning champion in her younger years, and is now retired and enjoys being a lady of leisure at the tender doggy age of six.
She is a real character, snooty, with a glint of naughtiness. I reckon if (princess) Prunella could speak English, she would complain profusely that "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth should really know better than parade her Heinz 57 half bred corgi's around for all to see!! Common mongrels!! What's more if Her Majesty should own a pooch, then she should have the decency to own only a delightfully distinguished purebred pedigree, such as oneself, so's not to embarrass the monarchy further..."
Froglett - Latest work unfinished piece
Froglett was originally sculpted in wax (see image). He is now in the process of being silver plated, so watch this space to see finished sculpture images.
Background
This little fella arrived on my doorstep; he was so small that I almost stepped on him. He couldn't have been any bigger than 2p piece. This was a particularly cold autumn evening in October. Maybe it was my interpretation, but he seemed to be looking longingly into the warm well lit hall way. "Arr" I thought "just like a little froggy Oliver Twist." So I scooped him up and brought him into the warmth. After he had been fed, watered and warmed, he agreed to do a spot of modelling for me while I sculpted him. When he was feeling refreshed and bouncy I let him go back into the wilds, where the little Froggy baby hopped off into the undergrowth. I'll bet that he told all his family of his story; however I forgot to give him a picture of his portrait, so I'm not so sure if the little guys family and friends would have believed him about his little adventure.
This little fella will be available to buy in bronze or silver plate soon, so let me know if you want to give little Froglett a good home.
Albert the pup - Latest work unfinished piece
This is a life size portrait of Albert, made in clay. It's is much unfinished at the moment as you can probably tell from the front end of the sculpture. All being well the piece will be made into and edition of bronze and silver plated. So let me know if you are interested in buying one.
Background
Albert the Cockerpoo or Spoodle as some dogs prefer to be called. Albert is half Poodle and half cocker spaniel. He is only 7 weeks here and is in that phase where balance seems to be a bit of a problem; indeed steps seem to be the biggest obstacle of all. He seems to be doing just fine tottering about the house when bam!! When he is least prepared a relatively small, but rather solid step seems to suddenly, and without warning jump up and make its self much bigger then it was only a second ago, and down goes little Albert. Mind you only being 7 weeks of age he really doesn't have to that fall that far before the laminate flooring comes up to meet his little fuzzy chin, and then the puppy cries begin...
Wolfman - Current work, unfinished piece
Wolfman, baying at the moon. This piece was sculpted very quickly to capture the spirit of the moment.
He is in clay here, however in real life he is out of the mould and I am just putting the finishing touches to him in aluminium resin. This piece will be an edition of Bronze, and aluminium resin. Watch this space for updated image of finished piece, and let me know if you are interested in buying this fella.
Harry the Lutcher - Current commission
I am in the process at the moment of sculpting Harry the Lutcher. I was asked to sculpt a life size portrait of Harry to be cast into bronze. When I say life size I mean the whole body. I had no idea just how BIG Lutcher's are!! This was much to my surprise when we had to get the armature (a metal stick frame/skeleton) into the back of my car. No matter how hard we tried that blighter just wasn't going in!!.. So at the 11th hour good old rent a van was called to save our bacon.
Harry was excellent in his 1st sitting and we achieved loads. I will pop some images on here when Harry's portrait starts to look a little less blobby and a little more dog like.
New Piece - Current work
Without giving too much away, this piece is about the earth and the universe.
Here it is sculpted in clay, however I have just got the first piece out of the mould and it looks fab even if I do say so myself. This piece will be made in either bronze and silver plate or bronze resin and aluminium. Watch this space to see the first images of the finished piece.
