Eve Shepherd is a multi award-winning, internationally acclaimed figurative sculptor

(Eve’s work) is great art, but perhaps more importantly, it is great public art.
— Gary Raymond, art critic and BBC broadcaster

With a career spanning more than 30 years, she is considered a master sculptor and her work is held in many public and private collections worldwide.

Among her most iconic works are the 4m high bronze sculpture of Betty Campbell - Wales’ first black Headteacher - commissioned for Cardiff City Centre; and her full-body portrait of Professor Stephen Hawking for Cambridge University.

Born to a working class family from Sheffield, UK - from generations of steelworkers and cutlers - Eve quickly began to use her artform to speak for those without a voice. Her unique style and subversive subject matter have allowed her to remain an “outsider artist” while simultaneously achieving global renown.

Challenging social beliefs and taboos, her work tackles oppression and the human condition - peeling back the layers of societal norms to uncover hidden feelings and truths.

Eve’s work also explores our symbiotic relationship with nature - frequently hybridising animal, plant and fungi with the human form.

Her sculpture carries a great passion for fairness, equality and our oneness with the natural world. She believes that sculpture is a powerful tool to educate and heal - and that clay itself holds its own healing energy, which the artist can work with to reveal the hidden depths of the subconscious.
